Trouble in Paradise - What to do if you are Unemployed

Fifteen months ago I decided to take a huge risk and jump into a sudden move to California. I knew what to expect before moving here: High rent, high housing, high gas prices, expensive food, expensive drinks, but at that point in time, and still to this day, the rewards outweigh the risks. Moving from Utah to California I have experienced a new dynamic, a different social atmosphere, a paradise, amazing and fresh olive oil, wine, wine tasting, amazing views, cuisine, fresh food, rolling hills, cooler weather and stunning sunsets. But fifteen months later, here I am. Unemployed. Again. I knew finding a job would be hard but I didn't realize that keeping a job would be harder. Utah's job force was extremely opposite of what I have experienced thus far. I had a job for six and a half years, another for three and a half years. Since moving here, I had a job for ten months, was unemployed for two months, was employed for two more months and, as of today, unemployed. So it's b

Losing Weight Has Changed Me

....but in a good way of course! Nine months ago I started this "weight loss journey" as most would call it. It was a normal day for me. I was headed to my Thyroid appointment - this occurred every year or so -  this was a standard routine since I was 18. This time, my doctor wasn't so nice. She pointed to my weight and said, "This number cannot go up." It was 153 pounds. The most I have ever weighed in my life was 155 pounds. Immediately I realized that I weighed way more than I should at 5"5'. So I started going to the gym, got on Nutrisystem, and lost 10 pounds within the first 3-4 months. I set my mind to the end goal of losing weight and being happy. I wanted to share a few things that I have learned in the last nine months. It's been a journey to say the least. 1. I learned how to be nice:  I'm not sure if this has come with age or confidence, and most would probably say that I am fairly nice, but those from work would say otherwise ;

Abbie's Life: A Monthly Update

I realize it's been about a month and a half since my last blog. There is a reason for that. I usually write when I'm angry, upset, frustrated, or in some sort of dramatic mood. Things have been nice lately. Nice, peaceful, relaxing, busy, and not dramatic. Maybe that's what happens when you don't have high hopes for your dating life. I can't say I have given up on dating because I have gone on some dates. I think I'm just giving up on the idea that every person that I like wants to be with me. I'm also very much focused on myself, my book, and my cupcake business. I have had more cupcake orders so far in 2016 than I did all last year (I swear!) and I'm actually making a profit. In fact, here is some of the work I have done this year alone: It's funny to look back to 2012-2013 and see the major improvements. If you like what you see, you can always visit my Facebook page: www.facebook.com/captivatingcupcakes . I have also been focu

Valentine's Day 2016 - The Day of Love

Today is the day of love and I have to say lately, I have been feeling loved. I am trying to be a happy, positive person and trying to enjoy and love life. But. Let's take a step back. My favorite. We went and bought ingredients to cook Chicken Parmesan, Salad, and Toast and it was amazing! Things to look forward to: -A three-day work week -Cousin, Timmy, Michael, and Stephen coming out -Gym 2-3X this

Because I'm Happy

Friday: Tonight I feel like a blog post. Just because. Life has been so incredibly busy yet so good. Time has been spent on myself lately. I have gone to the gym the last four out of five days, took my niece to the Jazz game last night and finally get a night to just do whatever I want. And it feels amazing. It's the weekend, I'm not on-call, I went and worked out, showered, and here I am watching the Kardashians in my sweats. Amazing. Sunday: I sometimes enjoy 3.5-day weekends. Especially since they don't happen that often. I also spent this weekend at the Jazz game with Jared. I met him two weeks ago at Liquid Joe's and I have to say, things have been good. I was thinking way too in-depth about how the game would go, things I would say, things that would happen, yet everything seemed to have happened better than I expected. The movie that we watched after was Inside Out which was the cutest* movie ever :) Today consisted of working out (I'm on a serious roll h

Positive Vibes and Positive Minds

A lot of positive things have happened in the past few weeks and I really don't know where to start. I have been focusing more on relationships - real life, face to face, relationships. I have been focusing less on being on my phone and computer. I have laughed, loved, and had so much fun. Life is so much better when you build and create long-lasting memories. I have learned that girlfriends - or "wifeys", "W4L"s - whatever you want to call them, are mandatory. There are only three months of summer and I'm striving to enjoy every second. Andrea is one of my best friends. We have been able to build an amazing relationship the past few months - from Snapchats, to dancing, to singing, to crazy stalkers, to laughing, to wifey, to the Lady A/Sam Hunt/Hunter Hayes concert, to Target trips, McDonalds trips, love, and being in the same position in life. She is truly someone that I care about so much. Then there are the men. You know they always say that things,
