Mastering the Mindset of Wealth

Image
When my brother was 18 years old, I remember him telling me, "Abbie, Lexi (little sister) and I both know you are rich." This quote has stuck with me because I have never been rich. I like to say that since I was 20 years old, I have enjoyed "financial freedom." I would take my little sister to the mall and spend hundreds of dollars at once. 🛍️🛍️ I would go out to eat, go where I wanted and when I wanted, go on vacations, go to the casino and spend hundreds (or more), and order clothes online as if I didn't have a budget. Until I sold my condo in 2016. I made a lot of money in an amazing Utah economy and then it hit me. I paid off $30,000 in debt. Not only that, but most of it was credit card debt. This didn't include my student loan! So, to my brother who is now 21, I have never been "rich", I have just enjoyed living outside of my means. 💳💳 I have always had a love/hate relationship with money. Mainly love because when you have a credit car

Losing Weight Has Changed Me

....but in a good way of course! Nine months ago I started this "weight loss journey" as most would call it. It was a normal day for me. I was headed to my Thyroid appointment - this occurred every year or so -  this was a standard routine since I was 18. This time, my doctor wasn't so nice. She pointed to my weight and said, "This number cannot go up." It was 153 pounds. The most I have ever weighed in my life was 155 pounds. Immediately I realized that I weighed way more than I should at 5"5'. So I started going to the gym, got on Nutrisystem, and lost 10 pounds within the first 3-4 months. I set my mind to the end goal of losing weight and being happy. I wanted to share a few things that I have learned in the last nine months. It's been a journey to say the least. 1. I learned how to be nice:  I'm not sure if this has come with age or confidence, and most would probably say that I am fairly nice, but those from work would say otherwise ;

New Year - New Me

OK, so the blog title may be a little deceiving because I literally have not spent time thinking about my new years goals or resolutions. Usually I have a whole list ready to go before the New Year and it's nice to see what I have checked off and completed. Below were my 2014, 2015 goals, and now my 2016 goals that I'm going to make up as I go. In 2014, I did not accomplish any of my goals. In 2015, I did publish my first book on April 1. It's funny that my goal in 2015 included "Be cautious of my gambling habits" because I was literally in Wendover last night ringing in the New Year! And - for the record - I only lost $130 (would have been less but I still have a $13 Montego Bay ticket that I forgot to cash out :/ ). The last time I went to Wendover (Thanksgiving Day), I came home up $1,100 and when I went to Vegas a few weeks ago, I lost $500. Overall, the past few months, I have been up altogether :). New Years Eve was one of the best I had! I got off work at 3
