How to Make Hot Honey Sauce – Sweet, Spicy & Perfect for Dipping
Quick Hot Honey Sauce Recipe
I made this easy hot honey sauce recipe on a whim, completely made it up, and Jace rated it a 30/10. This sauce was perfect with chicken tenders and we added ours to a sandwich. You can also use it as a dressing or a dip. I'm not a huge fan of heat, but this sauce hit the spot. It was sweet with honey, balanced out with crushed red pepper flakes and cayenne pepper. You won't believe that there isn't any sauce in this recipe except a few drops of Sriracha.
• Family-Friendly: My teen and I loved it, so if you love spice, or even if you don't, this isn't too spicy
• Difficulty Level: Easy
• Best Served With: Chicken tenders, on a sandwich, or as a dip
• Serving size: This recipe makes enough sauce for 6 chicken tenders, serving 2-3 people
• Total cook time: Less than 5 minutes
Why You Will Love This Hot Honey Sauce
First bite and you will taste a kick of hot, but I made sure to balance it out with ingredients such as garlic powder, onion powder, and, of course, the honey. You will be surprised to know that the only sauce in this recipe is just a few drops of Sriracha for an extra kick. If you aren't a huge fan of spice (like me) but want just a tiny kick, not enough to get you hot or make you sweat, this is the sauce for you!
Use this sauce on various dishes like grilled meats, roasted vegetables, on pizza, or in a chicken sandwich like we did. You can drizzle it on roasted potatoes or add it to a shrimp dish.
What I Learned About Adjusting the Sauce
I learned that it's best to taste the sauce at the end and then add in any other ingredients that it may be missing for you. For us, that was the Sriracha. We also ended up adding the extra tablespoon of honey as well so it all balanced out.
Inspiration
Jace, my 14 year old, loves chicken sandwiches and he loves hot honey chicken. I've never made it, and honestly just made a sauce that I thought both him and I would love. Sure enough, this one stuck and I had to write a blog post of it! I call it the Savvy with Abbie Hot Honey Sauce. Jace told me I had to write this one down so we could make it again.

How do I Make this Spicier?
The recipe is mild to medium in spice, but you can easily adjust it by adding more heat with cayenne, crushed red pepper flakes, or Sriracha as needed. If you like things really spicy, try adding extra Sriracha or a dash of hot sauce for an even bolder kick!

• 1/4 cup + 1 tbsp honey (use your preferred variety)
• 1/2 tbsp crushed red pepper flakes
• 1/2 tbsp garlic powder
• 1/2 tbsp onion powder
• 1/2 tbsp cayenne pepper
• 1/2 tbsp cajun seasoning
• *1/2 tbsp Korean BBQ
• A few drops of Sriracha, to taste
In a small pot on the stove, add the 1/4 cup + 1 tbsp honey. Turn the heat on to high heat.
In the pot, while still on high heat, add in the crushed red pepper flakes, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, Cajun seasoning, and Korean BBQ seasoning.
✓ Step #3 Boil
Whisk and boil the sauce for 30-60 seconds. Turn to low and keep stirring until it's combined.

✓ Step #4 Take off heat
Take off the heat, add a squeeze of Sriracha and taste. Adjust to your liking. If you are going to add the sauce to chicken for a chicken sandwich, move to Step #5. Otherwise, you can enjoy as a dip.

No other ingredients needed on the burger. Place the chicken tenders onto a hamburger bun, cut it in half, and enjoy!
Add your favorite fries or you can make them with potatoes you may have.
